Liverpool handed major injury blow

Ahead of facing Union Saint-Gilloise, Liverpool have been dealt some concerning news on the injury front.

Alexis Mac Allister has shared a concerning update on his injury recovery after uploading an image of himself in crutches on social media. The Liverpool midfielder was forced off the pitch during the Reds’ 2-0 win over Sheffield United last Wednesday, though his withdrawal was played down by Jurgen Klopp when speaking after the full-time whistle:

“Macca, a shame [that] early he got a cut and as long as the wound was open, we just strapped it,” Klopp said. “It was painful, but he could play. We stitched it and then it got a bit tighter there, and he couldn’t move anymore. We have to see how long that will take. I hope not too long.”

However, Mac Allister himself has now taken to Instagram to make clear how his recovery progress is going and uploaded images which certainly suggest the Argentine’s injury could be worse than first feared.

One of the pictures is the 24-year-old in crutches, which was accompanied by the following message from Mac Allister: “A recap of last week. I’m committed to my recovery and will do my best to be back soon. Thanks for your constant support! #YNWA.”
