Liverpool Set To Struggle In Premier League With Or Without Torres
With less than three weeks to the start of the new Premier League season most Liverpool fans are desperately hoping that star striker Fernando Torres decides to stay with the club and honour the remainder of his contract .
However the spainard had a very poor world cup in South Africa and suffers from recurrent niggling injuries . During the 2009/10 Premier League season Torres started 22 games scoring eighteen goals and in the previous season Torres started 24 games scoring on fourteen occassions .
Liverpool fans are understandably desperate for a top striker but surely at anything over £30M for Torres he should be sold and the proceeds invested on two or more strikers as replacements .
The acquisition of Joe Cole on a reputed £90 000 a week will do little to boost team spirit although the signing of Wilson from Rangers could turn out to be a bargain .
Whilst the ageing Steven Gerrard has apparently pledged his future to the club , doubts still remain about whether Dirk Kuyt will stay and it is very difficult to see how Liverpool will score enough goals to go close to troubling the Top 4 in the Premiership.
Roy Hodgson faces a very difficult task to improve much on the seventh position that Liverpool reached last year . Further improvement can be expected from Everton , Sunderland and Aston Villa this year and Liverpool must be laid on Betfair at odds of around 7/4 to finish in the Premier League Top 4 .
As happened last year they could struggle to reach the Top 6 and can be laid at between 1/3 and 2/5 to do so .
Unless further changes in personnel are made prior to the start of the season , this could be another very awkward season for this great club .
