Piers Morgan’s bold Tweet ahead of the North London derby has come back to bite him.
The ITV presenter posted up a comparison between Tottenham frontman Harry Kane and Arsenal’s new signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang before the big Premier League clash.
He cheekily stated: “Can’t wait to see the best striker in Europe tomorrow.”
The statistics involved saw Kane trailing the latest Gunners recruit in terms of goals scored during the past three seasons.
Aubameyang had racked up 100 goals in 177 games, compared to Kane’s 92 in the same number of appearances, but ignoring the fact the latter’s came in the English top-flight.
That didn’t go well for Morgan at all, though, as Arsenal were toppled 1-0 at Wembley by Spurs, thanks to a superb header from Kane.
Latching on to a pinpoint delivery from Ben Davies, the England international striker jumped highest to header home the eventual winner on home soil.
As if Kane’s header wasn’t classy enough, the Spurs hitman’s later reply to Morgan was simple but great.
“Thanks” he posted.
“Can you just go to Spain, please?” was Morgan’s response as he was forced to conceded who the better forward is in the Premier League.
