Man Utd Star Scott McTominay Looks To Have Made His International Decision
February 27, 2018
Highly-rated Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay has been attracting plenty of attention when it comes to his international allegiance.
At 21 years of age, McTominay is now being sought after by two nations, with the midfield talent eligible for both England and Scotland.
It was previously believed that the Lancaster-born starlet would opt for the Scots to gain more of a promising national career, but recently that has changed.
McTominay’s performances under Portuguese coach Mourinho at Old Trafford have seen his stock rocket, and many have called for him to be included in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the 2018 World Cup.
Mourinho himself believes his young midfielder will choose the Three Lions, and he is being heavily backed to pick his native country over his father’s home nation of Scotland.
There have been a surge in bets on the youngster being included in the England set-up to travel to Russia this summer, as outlined by Oddschecker spokesperson George Elek.
“We’ve seen a load of interest in McTominay being selected for the England squad, following his performances for United and despite being touted for a Scotland call up,” he stated.
“The ambitious midfielder would surely want to force his way into Southgate’s reckoning having done so with Mourinho.
“England do boast Eric Dier and Jordan Henderson in that role though, and the England manager may be looking for someone with a bit more spark ahead of the World Cup.”
So, could McTominay be included in the Three Lions squad for Russia? Or will he opt for Scotland, in which he may face a better chance of earning international caps in the long-term?
