Manchester City injury update

Here is the latest Manchester City injury news ahead of their trip to St James’ Park.

Erling Haaland has not played since the defeat to Aston Villa back in December. But Pep Guardiola has confirmed the Norway international is back in light training and hinted there was an outside chance he could play against Newcastle on Saturday:

“Erling is a little better, his bone, so we need to be careful,” he said. “[He’s had] two or three sessions and feels good. Hopefully, [he can play soon but], I don’t know for Sunday or for Newcastle.”

Bernardo Silva sat out of the win over Huddersfield due to illness but the issue is not expected to be serious and he should be fine this weekend.

John Stones has endured an injury-hit campaign this season and was forced off against Everton last month: “He’s not training with us,” Guardiola said last week. “He’s getting better but not training with us. I don’t know [when he’s back].”
