Manchester United Given All Clear to Make January Swoop For Defender

The January transfer window isn’t far away from opening once again and Manchester United are being linked with a high-profile swoop for a new defensive acquisition.

Jose Mourinho is aiming to oversee his side keep up a challenge on runaway neighbours and Premier League leaders Manchester City, and new signings would give him a boost in that pursuit.

The Portuguese tactician has been rocked by several injury setbacks within his current squad, with skipper Antonio Valencia recently joining the likes of Eric Bailly on the sidelines for the foreseeable future.

Mourinho has a left back firmly in his sights when the winter market opens and it’s being reported that the Red Devils have been given the green light to make a big-money move for Juventus star Alex Sandro.

The dominant Italian champions turned down a £65 million offer from current Premier League title holders Chelsea in the summer and Antonio Conte is still believed to be keen on his services.

But Man Utd have now entered the running and the Old Lady are ready to cut their losses by selling the full back next month, following a dip in his form of late.

With Luke Shaw also being widely overlooked by Mourinho, such a move could finally spell the end for his career at Old Trafford after much speculation in recent months.

England international Danny Rose was previously outlined as a left back target, but the Old Trafford hierarchy are believed to view Sandro as the easier deal to get done.

Watch this space Manchester United fans, as another possibly exciting January transfer window approaches.

Meanwhile, Matteo Darmian is another wide defender that is tipped to depart the club, with a potential switch to Turkish outfit Galatasaray beckoning.
