Manchester United v Leicester Predictions and Free Bet Tips
Manchester United v Leicester Match Preview
Manchester United will need to put their existential league woes to one side when they host Leicester in the FA Cup Fourth Round on Friday evening.
Old Trafford has been pervaded by doom and gloom this term, and failing to make any new signings on deadline day emphasised this.
Ruben Amorim’s charges saw their recent spurt of good form encompassing wins on the trot in all competitions, stunted last weekend with another setback as they crashed to a 2-0 defeat at home to Crystal Palace.
Leicester, similarly, will have been smarting after a 4-0 reverse away to Everton last weekend, undoing the marvellous come-from-behind win at Tottenham before that.
At this stage of the FA Cup, pan-Premier League ties are a bit more common, and this could be an intriguing affair.
But what should you expect? I’ve located a couple of betting tips to sit alongside my Manchester United v Leicester predictions.
Manchester United to complete domestic sweep over Leicester
There was more introspection for United after the defeat to Palace. The most baffling element was that Kobbie Mainoo was used as a false nine.
With Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee both overlooked, it was a strange decision from Amorim and one that backfired.
A lack of creativity and pace up front at United is evident, and that was compounded by loaning out Marcus Rashford to Aston Villa.
Now to the positives. This will be the fourth FA Cup meeting between United and Leicester, and United have won two of these, although Leicester won 3-1 in the most recent clash during the 2020/21 season.
Let’s also not forget that United have beaten the Foxes twice this term (5-2 in the EFL Cup and 3-0 in the Premier League), and intriguingly Ruud van Nistelrooy was in temporary charge of the Red Devils presiding over both games before taking up his post at Leicester.
United have also won 16 of their past 18 home FA Cup ties, and having taken out Arsenal in the Third Round, I don’t see them slipping up.
For the first of my Manchester United Leicester predictions, I’m backing United to win & BTTS, and William Hill is advertising a neat price of 6/4 for that outcome.
Ruben Amorim to get the perfect riposte
To see a club of United’s stature struggle so much at home in the league is deeply concerning for those even with a passing interest in football.
Then again, United’s rebuild wasn’t something that was going to happen overnight, and it has been in the throes ever since Sir Alex Ferguson stepped down over a decade ago.
For Leicester, while their FA Cup credentials can’t be underestimated as they lifted England’s grandest piece of cup silverware in 2021, their immediate focus should be on survival.
Van Nistelrooy, of course, will receive a warm reception, and Leicester can pose some questions.
However, after backing United to win, I’m rounding things off with a Correct Score prediction. It could be flattering, but I’m going with United to prevail 3-1 that has odds of 8/1 tagged onto it at talkSPORTBet.
