The England and Chelsea midfielder has just over 12 months to run on his current contract, and despite the best efforts of the Chelsea hierarchy they have been unable to tie him down to a longer deal, leaving the possibility of a summer exit on the cards.
Mount has been with the club since childhood - although has had loan spells at Vitesse and Derby - and his departure would be considered a blow should they choose to cash in on him in the summer, and it could be one of the bargains of the summer for whoever snaps him up at a reduced price.
Liverpool have emerged as the favourites to complete the move as they look to freshen up an aging midfield, with Mount seen as a good fit for Jurgen Klopp’s tactical approach.
They have edged ahead of Arsenal and Tottenham in the betting as teams race to complete a deal for the 36-cap midfielder, who recently changed his representation which appeared to be a clear nod towards a change in his career path.
A move abroad could also be on the cards, with PSG and Inter Milan thought to be interested.
