Mauricio Pochettino plotting formation change as pressure mounts on Chelsea boss

Chelsea faced off with Wolves in a Premier League clash on Sunday afternoon and fell to a 4-2 defeat.

The result leaves the Blues languishing in 11th place in the Premier League and has also seen Mauricio Pochettino’s odds slashed to 4/1 with BetVictor to be the next Premier League manager sacked.

Pochettino eyeing formation change

In an attempt to salvage Chelsea’s season and potentially his job, Mauricio Pochettino is said to be considering a switch to a three-man defence.

Pochettino is weighing up a move away from his favoured 4-2-3-1 formation as it is felt that a three-man defence could provide greater defensive solidity to a team that has conceded four goals in successive Premier League games.

The system change would also offer more protection to veteran defender Thiago Silva, whose lack of pace is becoming a serious issue for the west Londoners.

It could also help midfield duo Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo, who continue to be dominated by most sides this term - in part due to their small stature.

Another reason for the potential switch is Silva, Levi Colwill, Benoit Badiashile, Axel Disasi and Trevoh Chalobah all have experience playing in a three-man backline.
