Chelsea injury update

Here is the latest Chelsea injury news ahead of their meeting with Middlesbrough.

Speaking post-Preston, Mauricio Pochettino was asked for an update on his squad and confirmed three players were nearing a return:

“We are so close with Chilwell, Badiashile and Chukwuemeka but we need to see every day the evolution,” he said.

“Then it’s about if we can improve but they are so close. Always the risk is really important and seeing how the players perform in the training session. All of the players when they go to the session all feel they are ready. If you ask they say ‘I know myself’ but 99.9 per cent they make a mistake. They don’t know themself. Our opinion is good to see if they are available or not.”

It has since been reported that Christopher Nkunku is expected to be out for around three weeks with a hip injury.
