Michael Bisping set for return just 3 weeks after UFC 217

The bout, which will go down next weekend in Shanghai, has been made in the wake of Anderson Silva failing an out of competition drug test. This won’t be the first time that The Count has stepped forward in order to fight on short notice, but many fans can’t actually believe that he’s returning so soon after his dramatic loss in the main event of UFC 217.

Bisping was supposedly given a medical suspension but it doesn’t seem as if that’ll prevent him from fighting on the other side of the world, and for everyone watching, that’s great news.

Unfortunately for Michael he’s going against a man who is no joke, and despite his recent loss against Chris Weidman, you can’t count out someone like Kelvin Gastelum.

The youngster has a bright future in this game despite a few early hiccups, and he’ll see this match-up as a great way in which to make his presence felt within the middleweight division.

Luke Rockhold v Michael Bisping

Of course, there are several contenders lining up in order to try and get a shot at the title, but Kelvin’s skill set makes him one of the most dangerous fighters throughout all of mixed martial arts. Bisping is a legend and there’s no disputing that, but one has to question whether or not this was the smartest of ideas.

Michael has already made it known that he wants to have his retirement fight over in London next March, which will confuse some fans who think that he needs to be focusing on the task at hand. Either way, nobody can now deny that Michael Bisping is one of the toughest guys to ever be a part of that organisation.

Alex Caceres and Chase Sherman are two names that will also be competing on this card, but when you really analyse it, the addition of Bisping could well save this show from being a complete disaster.

China is an important market for the UFC and Dana White knows that, which is probably why he went all out in order to secure Michael’s services for this fight. It could wind up being a risk that backfires, but on the other hand, it gives us yet another chance to witness one of the greatest of all time in action.
