Mikel Arteta on what Arsenal must improve

Speaking after the Villa defeat, Mikel Arteta was quizzed on his side’s lack of cutting edge.

Arsenal had 12 shots and five on target compared to Villa’s 10 with three on target but they could not put any away.

On his side’s wastefulness, Mikel Arteta said post-match: “Yeah we had so many big opportunities that we couldn’t finish when they were completely open to shoot. We had two or three open goals almost that we couldn’t manage to score.

“There’s not much more that we could have demanded from the players than what we got today. We’re very disappointed because we didn’t get the result that we wanted.

“It was a bit windy today so you see a lot misplaced balls, not having the right touch and not having the right accuracy in certain passes. I don’t know. For sure I have a responsibility and I have to take it yeah.”

Arsenal are now two points off Liverpool in the title race with a home clash vs Brighton this Sunday their next Premier League outing.
