Mikel Arteta sets personal record

After securing a 2-0 win over Brighton, Mikel Arteta made personal history over the weekend.

Arsenal are unbeaten in their last 13 home matches across all competitions (W11 D2), their longest such run under Mikel Arteta, and longest overall since December 2018 (also 13 games).

Mikel Arteta gave his assessment of the game post-match and was quick to point out the number of chances his side needed to score:

“Outstanding,” he said. “From start to the end. Big compliment to the team against a top side. We fully deserved to win the game. I know how hard it is and what Brighton do to teams. We didn’t allow that to happen.

“We had to patient but at the same time we had to be patient against this team. When you have doubts they open you up. We didn’t do that. We had some issues in the camp and with Jorginho too we had another one. We need players.

“If we generate more, the probability for scoring will be higher. Today we needed too many. That was the fear that it could be one of those games.”
