Milner To Man City Price Slashed By Skybet
James Milner is now just 1/10 to be at Manchester City on the first day of the season after Aston Villa boss Martin O’Neill resigned himself to losing his skipper this summer.
With big-spending City keen on the former Leeds United youngster and reportedly prepared to double his £45,000-a-week wages at Villa Park, Skybet seems convinced that Milner will be strutting his stuff at Eastlands this coming season, slashing his price to just 1/10.
Other bookmakers, including Paddy Power, have closed the book on Milner’s club next season although some punters may consider that a premature move, given that O’Neill has shown in the past that he is not afraid to keep hold of a player if the price isn’t right.
City are reportedly £6m away from Villa’s £30m valuation of Milner and O’Neil is not prepared to let his skipper go on the cheap.
That could see a repeat of the Gareth Barry saga two years ago, when Villa kept hold of Barry for another season despite his desire to move to Anfield after the Reds failed to cough up the £18m asking price. The then Villa captain eventually moved to City the following summer.
The same bookmaker is also offering 7/1 that Milner ends up at Chelsea whilst a move to Liverpool is priced at 20/1.
