Newcastle’s embarrassing record revealed after Nottingham Forest loss

Newcastle faced off with Nottingham Forest on Boxing Day in a tie they were expected to win with ease.

The Magpies had scored 22 and conceded four at home this season before Tuesday, but ended up losing 3-1 to Forest thanks to a Chris Wood hat-trick.

Newcastle return to action on January 1 vs Liverpool and are 11/2 with bet365 to win that game.

Newcastle’s embarrassing record

After losing to Liverpool, a rather shocking Newcastle United record has emerged. Newcastle have lost the most matches on Boxing Day of any side in English league history (47).

Despite Tuesday’s loss, Newcastle boss Eddie Howe does not believe that his side are ‘not far away’ from rediscovering their form.

When asked what the reason for the club’s drop off in form was, Howe responded: “I don’t think there’s one reason. I think it’s a whole combination of things as to why we’ve not been at our best. I don’t think we were far away today.

“We need to train properly for perhaps the first time in months. A team not playing at their best, you have to self-reflect. We don’t have more pressure than usual. Our decision-making was off today.”
