Current Portsmouth boss , Avram Grant is the strong favourite to suceed Gianfranco Zola as the next West Ham manager after news that the Club have drawn up a shortlist of four they wish to interview .
Sky sports reported earlier today that West Ham are seeking permission to interview Grant as well as Sam Allardyce , Dave Jones of Cardiff and Ian Holloway of Blackpool .
Grant is quoted at 1/6 to land the job with Betfred after winning plenty of plaudits for the manner in which Portsmouth battled through the season and reached the FA Cup Final despite being in administration and having five different owners through the season . Over the last ten games of the Premier League season Portsmouth gained 9 points , winning twice and drawing three games and they suffered relatively few heavy defeats during Grant’s reign .
Allardyce is unlikely to be a popular choice amongst West ham fans as the no-nonsense style in which his teams play would not fit with the passing game West Ham aspire to .
Jones and Holloway have had succesfull seasons in the Championship and meet this coming weekend at Wembley in the Play Off Final to decide who will gain promotion to the Premiership .
Betfred can’t seperate them and Holloway in particular who has achieved miracles this year with Blackpool could be a lively outsider at 10/1 .
West Ham’s new owners are unlikely to spend heavily this summer and relegation could be a threat again next season for the Hammers . Currently only Skybet are pricing up this market and offer West Ham at 5/1 to be relegated .
