NFL: Miami Dolphins @ Baltimore Ravens Preview and Team News
An interesting clash awaits us in Baltimore this evening as Miami Dolphins come to town.
The Dolphins are unbeaten away from home having won their previous four games on their travels while their hosts the Ravens have won all their three home games and something will have to give tonight.
The Ravens come in having had a week off last week. It came at the perfect time for their defence to regroup after giving up over 500 yards in their previous outing against the Bills, the most yards given up by the formidable Ravens D since 2000!
History tells us that the Ravens excel after the bye week having won 7 and lost 1 of their previous 8 games after the bye week and the last 2 games have yielded an average of 20 point victories.
Wide receiver Derrick Mason is back from injury to help the Ravens cause and with Ed Reed back with the dominant Ray Lewis on defence the Ravens will be looking to consolidate their position at the summit of the AFC North.
The Dolphins arrive in Baltimore with a running offence ranked a lowly 16th in the league and it won’t improve much against a Ravens run defence which restricted the Dolphins running game to 60 yards in both 2008 meetings. The Dolphins may look to the pass with improving young quarterback Chad Henne but this will be risky against a Ravens defence that ranks 9th against the pass and loves an interception!
When Henne attempts 30 passes or less in games he is 6 wins and 1 loss compared to 5 wins and 8 losses when he throws all game, if the dolphins can establish the running game they may have a chance in this one.
Bookmakers have the Ravens favourites in this game but the handicap looks a tasty bet. Grab the Ravens -4.5 points with Boylesports at odds of 10/11.
Another value bet is Miami’s second string running back Ronnie Brown running for UNDER 55.5 yards with Ladbrokes at odds of 5/6.
