NFL Playoffs: 9/2 Sunday Night Double - January 23, 2022

A thrilling Saturday night saw both favourites dumped out of the NFL playoffs. The Titans and Packers are gone, what happens with the Sunday favourites?

Here we pick out two selections for our 9/2 Sunday double.

  • Buccaneers -6.5  handicap (v Rams)
  • Over 6.5 touchdowns (Bills @ Chiefs)

Buccaneers -6.5

There are some players who are capable of flicking a switch and turning up their play to a new level, not many can do it, but Tom Brady is certainly one of them.

Brady was excellent last week, and went fully into playoff mode, looking as though he was ready to lead the Buccs to the Super Bowl.

The Rams were strong last week, and deserve a ton of respect, but in this quarterback battle there is only one winner. Matthew Stafford is strong, but not capable of keeping up with Brady.

When this game gets to the latter stages and needs a big play and a big drive up field, we see Brady as the only one capable of doing that, and have to side with him in this one.

When Stafford opens up and has to play a more expansive game, he is prone to the odd mistake, and under the pressure he will face here, we think that will happen.

The Buccs can pull away this one, and cover the -6.5 handicap line.

Over 6.5 Touchdowns (Bills @ Chiefs)

Of the games this weekend, this is without a doubt the toughest one to call.

The Chiefs looked back to their best last weekend, the Bills were electric themselves, beating the Patriots with ease.

Both teams have the perfect targets for their quarterbacks, and last week, connections were in full flight. Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce for the Cheifs and Dawson Knox and Stefon Diggs for the Bills. Not to mention the strong run games that both have, plus the ability that both quarterbacks have when they are running with the ball.

It all points to an open game, both will look to score, and if the game needs to open up, both have the ability to chase when they need to score points.

We can’t split them, but what we can do is predict touchdowns in the contest. We are going with over 6.5 touchdowns in this high scoring game, and may the best team win!
