Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante has claimed that Lionel Messi is the greatest player her has ever come up against.
Kante was named in the FIFPro World XI at the FIFA Best Awards in London on Monday evening, alongside winner of the main prize, Luka Modric, who beat Cristiano Ronaldo and Mohamed Salah at the end of the night.
The Croat’s win brought an end to a decade of dominance from Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, who have been voted the best on the planet five times each. Kante proclaimed himself a fan of the Argentine, claiming he is the best player he has faced in his career.
This came out after Kante hit the headlines for dining with fans who spotted him in a local mosque last week, which showed his humility. His Chelsea teammate Eden Hazard was also included in the World XI, while Thibaut Courtois, who left the Blues for Real Madrid in the summer, was voted the Best Goalkeeper.
There is still outrage that Messi wasn’t included in the final three for the big award, something you have to imagine Kante disagrees with.
