Burnley played host to Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon as they looked to put an end to their poor run of form.
However, the Clarets fell to a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Palace and now sit joint-bottom of the Premier League along with Sheffield United. This has seen Vincent Kompany’s odds slashed to 6/1 with Betfair to be the next Premier League manager sacked.
Burnley set unwanted record
After losing 2-0 to Crystal Palace, Burnley are the first side in English top-flight history to lose each of their first six home games to begin a season.
One of Burnley’s main issues this term is a lack of goals. They are the lowest scorers in the PL in 2023/24 with just eight from 11.
Speaking post-Palace, Vincent Kompany discussed his side’s lack of goals and their struggle for form:
“You have to do a lot to put yourself into those positions, that’s a quality as well, but I trust fully we have the players to finish those chances. But today that little bit of something didn’t get us over the line,” he said.
“It’s tough because you want to call out the facts, which is that a mistake cost us. But at the same time you don’t want players to lose their confidence.”
“They’ve worked really hard in every game, they’ve worked really hard behind the scenes, they’re getting the performance for it but to get the reward, you’re just going to have to stick at it, learn faster or improve faster and make sure you don’t expose yourself to anything to give yourself a chance of winning these games.”
