Malo Gusto has sent a warning to Reece James ahead of Chelsea’s return to action vs Arsenal next weekend.
Chelsea found form before the October international break and are 23/10 to beat the Gunners with bet365.
Chelsea’s right-back competition
Chelsea were able to pick up wins over Fulham and Burnley recently despite not having an available right-back.
Marlo Gusto was serving a three-match ban following a red card vs Aston Villa, whilst Reece James was still recovering from a hamstring injury.
However, Gusto’s suspension is now over and James has returned to full fitness as Chelsea prepare to take on Arsenal. This leaves Mauricio Pochettino with a welcome selection dilemma for next weekend’s game.
Ahead of the match, Marlo Gusto has been discussing competing with James for a starting berth: “We give each other a lot of advice, he tries to help me and I try to help him as best I can,” the 20-year-old told RMC Sport. “On the pitch, it’s war, he knows it very well.
“We don’t necessarily do each other any favours and simply the best player will play.”
Gusto also had praise for another Chelsea defender in Thiago Silva: “He’s one of the greatest defenders in the world,” said the Frenchman. “He’s always on top and focused on what he’s doing. Seeing that he’s always giving it his all is something that’s beautiful and inspires me a lot.”
