At the halfway stage in the 2010 Open Championship Tiger Woods is still very much in contention and is in fact second favourite with most bookmakers .
Tiger produced a battling round of golf in extreme conditions yesterday and would be delighted to have grabbed a birdie on the last hole to finish at four under par .
Woods will tee off this afternoon at 3.05pm alongside the ever popular Darren Clarke. The Ulsterman returned to his best form last weekend in the Scottish Open at Loch Lomond finishing second having won the JP McManus Pro Am charity event earlier in the week . Clarke is at his best when the weather is wet and windy so the conditions at St Andrews have been perfect for him so far .
This pairing is sure to attract a huge following and the pressure is likely to get to Clarke more than Woods .
Tiger Woods has a superb record around St Andrews and the course suits his game perfectly . There is little trouble off the tee left at St Andrews and Woods generally manages to keep out of all of the trouble .
Expect Tiger to shoot a good score today and Clarke may well struggle to keep up his good form of late.
Bookmaker Paddy Power offer odds of 4/7 for Woods to win the 2 ball and even those odds are tempting .
