Leading Irish bookmaker Paddy Power is the only firm taking bets on the 2014 World Cup to be held entirely held outside of Brazil.
Punters can get a price of 6/1 from Paddy on the elected host nation being unable to stage football’s biggest international cup competition. Delays in the building of stadia and civil unrest would seem to be the main threat to Brazil hosting the finals even though they passed the acid test when succesfully hosting last year’s Confederations Cup.
Should the finals be moved, it would not be the first time that a country has pulled out of hosting the World Cup, in 1986 Mexico replaced FIFA’s original choice of Colombia who were unable to stage the event due to economic restraints.
Paddy Power are famed for their tongue in cheek approach to betting and this is just one of the latest special markets offered by the firm. They are equally as notorious for their money back specials, but as yet Paddy Power does not have a dedicated offer for the World Cup at the time of writing, although punters can still cop up to 100% bonus on football accumulators and pick up free bets when placing 5 in-running football bets.
Paddy Power are of course, not the only firm taking bets on the World Cup and you can find a good range of free bets from a selection of top online bookmakers by clicking here.
