Pep Guardiola blasts careless Man City players for Crystal Palace draw

Manchester City faced off with Crysal Palace on Saturday, looking to put an end to their awful run of form.

A City side without the injured Erling Haaland took a 2-0 lead on the day thanks to goals from Jack Grealish and Rico Lewis. And with Palace not having a shot on target with 15 minutes to play, the Sky Blues looked to be in the clear.

However, Jean-Phillippe Mateta pulled one back in the 76th minute before Michael Olise converted a penalty deep into injury time to secure Palace a draw. Though City have now won just one in five PL ties, they are still 6/5 favourites with bet365 to secure the title.

Pep Guardiola hits out at Manchester City

Despite still being favourites for the Premier League title, Pep Guardiola was not happy with his players after the game and made his feelings very clear:

“At the end, be patient and don’t concede transitions and don’t concede like we have done in seven or eight years in these type of games,” he said.

“But of course in the first action they run and score a goal and in the last minute we give them [a penalty]. In the 18-yard box you have to be careful and we weren’t. We don’t deserve to win.

“It’s not bad luck, it’s deserved. We give away two points. When you give away this penalty, you deserve it. You see the chances we created and conceded it’s quite similar to all this season apart from the Chelsea game - but we are not able to close the games. That is the feeling.”

Man City will now take part in the Club World Cup before returning to league action on December 27th away to Everton.
