Ederson injury update

It was not all good news for Manchester City on Saturday, though, as Ederson suffered an injury.

The Brazilian tried to prevent Sean Longstaff from converting Alexander Isak’s cross in the opening minutes and collided with the Newcastle star.

Ederson required treatment to continue for a short period but despite his best efforts to carry on, the shot-stopper was struggling again as soon as the game restarted and Pep Guardiola called for Stefan Ortega to take his place.

After the match, Pep Guardiola provided an update on his no.1 and it is a fairly positive one:

“He had a big knock,” said Guardiola. “I didn’t speak with the doctors. He didn’t walk well as he left the pitch but if it is just a knock he will be fine because we have a break for 10 days. If there is some damage, the doctors will tell me.”
