Foden sends message to Kevin De Bruyne

De Bruyne is expected to be involved vs Newcastle as Pep Guardiola looks to close the gap on a Liverpool side who are now without Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

But KDB’s return does raise questions over Phil Foden’s playing time going forward this term.

The Englishman has shone in his natural central role but is expected to return to a wide spot going forward.

However, Foden has stated that he wants to continue at the top of midfield and has told Pep Guardiola he is feeling better than he ever has at City:

“It’s where I want to be – I’m enjoying it a lot,” he said. “Long may that continue. I seem to be playing my best football at the moment and I want to keep doing that.”

“You’re a lot more involved [in the centre], there’s a lot more to focus on. You’ve got a lot more people around you. It’s difficult and there’s still things I need to get better on and I’m trying to do that.”
