Reports claim that Lampard, the former Derby County and Chelsea boss, was interviewed for a second time by the Toffees hierarchy on Thursday afternoon.
Betfred make Lampard the 1/2 favourite to take the reins following the recent dismissal of unpopular former Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez.
Everton have also spoken to former Porto and Olympiacos manager Pereira, but the move which has infuriated some of the club’s supporters and it appears his hopes are now over.

Farhad Moshiri, the Everton owner, has come under severe scrutiny during the appointment process and is under pressure to make the right appointment to appease disgruntled fans.
Derby boss Wayne Rooney, who had two spells with Everton as a player, has also been linked with the role but has now drifted out to 16/1 with BetVictor.
