Premier League Tips – Friday January 14

Chelsea 33/1 with Betfred to overhaul City and land Premier League crown

Who can stop Manchester City cruising to the Premier League title?

Chelsea lie second in the table ahead of their trip to face Pep Guardiola’s table-toppers on Saturday lunchtime.

Thomas Tuchel’s men are a whopping 10 points behind the defending champions with just 17 games remaining.

Defeat in Manchester this weekend would almost certainly spell the end of their title dreams, if they are not over already.

Conversely, however, a win for the reigning European champions would breathe new life into their hopes of overhauling City.

Let it be remembered that Tuchel’s boys beat City in three huge games last season, all within the space of six weeks.

First, they claimed a 1-0 success in the FA Cup semi-final, then three weeks later they turned them over with a 2-1 win in the Premier League at the Etihad Stadium.

Then came the greatest victory of them all – and one of the finest results in the club’s entire history – as they beat Pep’s boys 1-0 in the Champions League final at Estadio do Dragao in Portugal.

Thus it is perhaps worth not writing off Chelsea just yet, particularly when they have the chance to cut the gap to seven points this weekend.

City remain long odds to win the Premier League this season – they are 33/1 with Betfred and that might be worth a flutter.

Chelsea remain a formidable outfit, as they showed by outclassing Tottenham Hotspur over two legs in the Carabao Cup semi-final.

Liverpool are much shorter odds to reclaim the title they won two seasons ago and you can get 10/1 with Paddy Power for the Premier League trophy to return to Anfield.

But this weekend’s clash at the Etihad is such a huge game for City and Chelsea and the hosts will know that victory will leave the title almost within touching distance, even though we are still in mid-January.

City are seeking a 12th successive Premier League victory on Saturday and odds of 13/20 with bet365 for a home win are tempting to say the least.

Romelu Lukaku is also worth a punt at 3/1 with Unibet as an anytime goalscorer, for which they are offering odds of 14/5 for the talismanic Bernardo Silva to get on the scoresheet at any point in the game.
