Racing Tip: Elusive Kate To Beat The Colt's In Vintage Jacques le Marois racing analyst Alan Kelly fancies Elusive Kate in the Group 1 Prix Du Haras De Fresnay Jacques Le Marois at 2.45 Deauville today tipster Alan Kelly fancies Elusive Kate at 11-1 in the Prix Du Haras De Fresnay Jacques Le Marois

This afternoon’s Prix Jacques le Marois at Deauville has attracted a star-studded field featuring some of the best milers in Europe and promises to provide one of Flat-racing’s highlights in 2013 and but for the absence of Goodwood’s Sussex Stakes winner Toronado it is hard to imagine a stronger Group 1 contest over the trip this season.

Qipco 2000 Guineas and St James’s Palace Stakes winner Dawn Approach makes a quick reappearance after failing to hold arch-rival Toronado in Goodwood’s Sussex Stakes, going down by half a length to Richard Hughes’ mount but two and a half lengths in front of one of today’s rivals in Declaration of War who attempts to provide back-to-back victories in the race for trainer Aidan O’Brien, successful with Excelebration in 2012.

Jim Bolger’s charge heads the market on 5-2 with Boylesports and William Hill, the same price as Prix Du Jockey Club winner Intello from the Andre Fabre yard who was un unlucky third over today’s trip in Longchamp’s Poule D’Essai Des Poulains ( French 2000 Guineas ), when beaten less than a length by Style Vendome from what looked an impossible draw.

That wonderful mare Moonlight Cloud, who very nearly ended the unbeaten record of the great Black Caviar in Ascot’s Diamond Jubilee Stakes, is a standout 3-1 shot with Coral and must take all the beating after her impressive defeat of star-sprinter Lethal Force over the course last week but at the 11-1 available with Boylesports and Betvictor the value has to lie with another member of the fairer sex in the shape of the John Gosden-trained Elusive Kate.

The daughter of Elusive Quality finished a close third in last year’s race, the only time she has tasted defeat on the course in five attempts, and her recent thrashing of Duntle and Kenhope in the Group 1 Prix Rothschild must rank as one of her best performances to date. The 4-year-old has been handed the number one stall which is a massive advantage for the filly who, even against such exalted company, will be difficult to peg back from her rail position.
