Real Madrid - Could A Bernabeu Return Be On The Cards?

After suffering a shock exit from this season’s Copa Del Rey, Thursday night’s defeat to Athletic Bilbao has once again brought Real Madrid’s defence back under the spotlight and with their left-hand side creating constant issues, the club will look to finally solve them in the summer.

Issues that will be worsened by the time that long standing defender Marcelo moves on at the end of the season and with the Brazilian’s contract expiring at the Santiago Bernabeu, he is currently being pursued by the likes of Cruzeiro, Palmeiras and former club Fluminense.

Which means Los Blancos will look to tap into their vast scouting network and with the club also being known for selling players on buy-back clauses, they will have several options that are ready to be called back in.

One of their more high-profile player sales in recent times, was the departure of Sergio Regullion to Tottenham and with his return clause being one which is well known, Spurs fan are always wary that the Spaniard does not play all that well.

Good but not Real Madrid good is what they ask of the former Sevilla man and although the 25-year-old is just one of the names on Carlo Ancelotti’s shopping list, Daniel Levy may soon be getting a phone call from Florentino Perez.

While with Regullion set to appear against Brighton on Saturday, he and his teammates will look to advance to the Fifth Round of the F.A. Cup and at odds of 20/23 to win in 90 minutes with Betfair, opponents Brighton will offer something of a stern test.

Of course, Real are well known for having a plan b or even c when it comes to the capture of personnel and although Angelico is another name that has been linked with a move to the Spanish capital, the answer may already lie within in the city.

Because with Rayo Vallecano’s Fran Garcia playing a considerable part in the club’s impressive season, he has subsequently found himself on the radar of the club who gave him his debut in 2018.

With Fernand Mendy suffering injury woes, the return of Garcia is one that is looking more appealing by the week and with every performance the 22-year-old gets under his belt for Rayo Vallecano, he is looking more of an assured defender.

Just the kind that Real Madrid would need to replace Marcelo and with the buy-back option costing €10 million, the Santiago Bernabeu outfit can purchase Garcia for just half that fee – as they already own 50% of his image rights.

A cheaper and more obtainable target it would seem and one that could well slot into a side that are defending LaLiga champions by the time of his arrival. While their quest for the Spanish league title, is one that continues this weekend.

One that sees them play host to Granada and although odds of 1/4 to win at home does not constitute much in the way of value, backing Karim Benzema to score anytime at odds of 4/6 with Betfair certainly does.

While it is value that they will be looking to extract once the transfer window is unlocked and with Fran Garcia continuing to impress at the Estadio de Vallecas, he looks set to move to the front of Real’s left-back shopping list.
