Cristiano Ronaldo says he grew his goatee beard as a joke, but will now be keeping it after it brought him good luck in his first two World Cup games.
The Real Madrid man is currently leading the race for the Golden Boot, having scored a hat-trick against Spain and the only goal against Morocco to all but secure Portugal’s place in the last 16.
Ronaldo said he initially did it for a laugh, but has grown fond of it, claiming it has helped him by bringing him good luck on the pitch.

“My beard? It was a joke with Quaresma, we were in the sauna & I was shaving, I left a goatee & told him if I scored vs Spain I won’t shave it until the end of the World Cup”, he said.
“It brought good luck and I scored vs Spain and today vs Morocco. So I’ll keep it”.
