Ferdinand reveals Declan Rice message
One of the men Arsenal brought in over the summer was Declan Rice, who left West Ham for a reported £105m fee.
The Englishman has since gone on to cement himself as one of the best midfielders in the top-flight this term and scored a crucial goal in Arsenal’s 3-1 win over Manchester United last month.
Rice put on another impressive showing last weekend when Arsenal beat Manchester City in the Premier League for the first time during Pep Guardiola’s reign.
After the match, Rio Ferdinand has revealed that Rice believes the wider footballing public took much less notice of his form last season:
“You know what, I text Declan [Rice] this morning and just said testament to you, that no one’s talking about the price tag,” said Ferdinand on his Vibe with Five Podcast.
“And his response was absolutely bang on. Declan said: ‘Come on, I was doing the same thing at West Ham, Ri, and no one wanted to speak about it’.”
