Super League: Rampant St Helens Odds On

The Super League season is only five rounds in but already it is hard to see past St Helens as the eventual winners of the competition.

Kristian Woolf’s side have racked up wins in every games so far and are again tasting the rarefied air at the Super League summit.

Saints really are an amazing team and swatted big-spending Warrington Wolves with ease on Friday night, winning 28-2 in a victory that was every bit as comfortable as the scoreline suggests.

St Helens have won the Super League title in the past three seasons and look a decent bet to retain their crown this term.

Winning four consecutive Grand Finals in unprecedented in Super League history but St Helens are 11/8 with Betfred to prevail at Old Trafford on Saturday, September 24.

They won both major cup competitions last season and, if anything, have got even stronger this year following the emergence of the likes of Lewis Dodd, Jack Welsby and Joe Batchelor.

What should not be overlooked either is the remarkable consistency levels of Saints, over several years now.

They narrowly missed out on top spot last term but there is outstanding value to be had on them winning the League Leaders’ Shield this year.

Nobody looks capable of matching Saints’ consistency, so lump on the champions to finish top at 4/5 with Betfred.

Pretty soon, if Woolf’s side continue the way they are going, it will be time to start talking about whether St Helens can go the regular season unbeaten.

These are early days of course but, as things stand, top spot looks theirs for the taking.
