Scottish Premiership Preview: Battles at the Top & Bottom

Wednesday evening sees five matches in the Scottish Premiership as the battle intensifies at both ends of the league table.

Leaders Rangers host Livingston at Ibrox, and this should be an easy three points for the hosts who are facing a Livingston side that haven’t beaten them in 13 attempts.

Rangers are just 1/6 for the win but can be backed at 8/11 with Betfred giving up a one-goal start.

The match of the day is at Tynecastle, where Hearts take on Celtic in what’s always a tasty encounter and 7/2 with bet365 for a red card could be overpriced.

Hearts have been strong at home this season and will fancy their chances of taking the points, but the Hoops have already beaten the Edinburgh side twice this season and should edge this.

There’s also a massive clash at the bottom of the table where St Johnstone and Dundee are looking to stop the rot in a classic six-pointer.

The Super -J’s have lost nine on the bounce in the league and were booted out of the Scottish Cup by League Two Kelty Hearts.

At the prices, Dundee look the value at 12/5 with Betfair while anyone looking to back St Johnstone at an extremely short 5/4 needs help.

Dundee’s city rivals United welcome Ross County to Tannadice, and this one should have goals.

United have signed Tony Watt from Motherwell, and they’ll be hoping he can help end United’s poor run that’s seen them lose their last six in the league.

Over 2.5 goals in this one looks a great bet at 6/5 with Unibet.

Finally, Motherwell and Hibs clash at Fir Park, and this is likely to be an entertaining affair with both sides best form of defence seemingly being attack.

Motherwell have scored in six of their last seven while Hibs have also bagged in six of their previous seven – both teams to score in this one looks an excellent bet at 10/11 with William Hill.
