Scottish Premiership Preview: St Mirren v Celtic

After a frantic day of deliberations at Hampden, the big news in the Scottish Premiership today is that tonight’s St Mirren v Celtic clash is on.

St Mirren had requested that the match and their Boxing Day clash with league leaders Rangers be postponed due to their squad being decimated by COVID issues.

Buddies manager Jim Goodwin reported that he has just 10 first team players available for tonight’s clash, and the bookies have already cut Celtic to just 1/8 to pick up the three points in Paisley this evening.

It’s hard to look past anything but a Celtic win this evening but with prohibitive odds on offer, I’m on the hunt for some value and it’s the corners market that looks to have potentially offered up an early Christmas gift.

Celtic tend to rack up a large number of corners at both home and on the road, and in their last five domestic matches, they’ve hit double figures on four occasions.

Sunday’s League Cup victory over Hibs saw them land 10 corners, and they’ve hit 10, 12, and 13 in recent weeks against Motherwell, Dundee United, and Hearts, respectively.

They’re currently a shade odds on to land over 7.5 corners, with Betfair offering 19/20.

However, I’m tempted to go with them landing at least nine corners this evening – over 8.5 Celtic corners is 13/5 at Betfair.
