Somerset are 7/2 favourites for this season’s Twenty20 Cup despite a heavy home defeat to Kent in their final southern group match.
The Sabres, last year’s runners up, finished top of the southern section of the reformatted competition despite being skittled out for just 82 runs in reply to Kent’s 141 yesterday, securing a tie against outsiders Northamptonshire
The tie of the round sees second favourites and in-form Nottinghamshire Outlaws face defending champions Sussex Sharks at Trent Bridge, with Notts 5/1 best price with Totesport and the Sharks 6/1 best price with Sportingbet.
Essex, who also lost their final group match with an 11 run defeat to Middlesex, are also available at a general 6/1 after they were drawn at home to the hit and miss Lancashire Lightning, who themselves are best price 17/2 with Totesport.
Warwickshire, who finished top of the northern group ahead of Notts, are at 7/1 best price with Boylesports after they were drawn at home to Hampshire.
The quarter finals will be played on the weekend of 26/27 July, with the winners going through to finals day at Hampshire’s Rose Bowl next month.
