Tottenham ran out comfortable 6-1 winners over League One opponents Rochdale in their FA Cup clash at Wembley, but VAR was again the centre of attention.
A hat-trick from Spanish frontman Fernando Llorente, a Heung-Min Son brace and Kyke Walker-Peters’ late strike earned safe passage to the next round of the competition.
It looked like a cup shock was on the cards early on, though, when the hosts had a goal bizarrely ruled out by VAR before Stephen Humphrys then levelled for the visiting outfit.
Son also had a successful penalty disallowed due to an illegal run up, which he received a booking for, leading many to feel it wasn’t going to Spurs‘ night.
Son is already considered to be a fan favourite with the Spurs supporters, but he further endeared himself to them with this celebration.
After the third goal, the South Korean was captured brilliantly mocking VAR during the celebrations.
It was another fine display from the Spurs playmaker, with two impressive strikes on the Wembley turf.
He will likely play a further key role throughout this year, as Mauricio Pochettino’s Londoners chase down silverware success in the competition.
