After a torrid start to the 2023/24 campaign, Chelsea have now won three games on the bounce in all competitions.
The Blues’ next outing sees them host Arsenal on October 21. Back Chelsea to beat Arsenal with bet365 at 23/10.
Summer signing key to Chelsea form
Chelsea’s last outing before the October break saw them put Burnley to the sword by four goals to one. Before that they beat Fulham 2-0 in the league and knocked Brighton out of the League Cup.
All three of those matches had one thing in common, they were all games summer signing Cole Palmer started in.
The former Manchester City man did not start any Chelsea games this season before the win over Brighton but Chelsea have now won three in a row with Palmer in from the off.
Palmer provided the assist for the only goal vs Brighton before scoring and assisting one vs Burnley at the weekend.
And now, speaking to BBC Radio London, Lucy Oliva has credited Palmer as the reason for Chelsea’s improvment: “It’s no coincidence that Chelsea’s recent run of form - an unprecedented three wins in a row - has coincided with the three starts handed to deadline day signing Cole Palmer.
“Despite being just 21, Palmer has brought with him a swagger and confidence on the ball which has been sorely missing for a long time at Stamford Bridge.
“The fact they hadn’t scored a goal in the three games before his first start against Brighton in the League Cup - and have bagged seven in those three since - suggests he may have been just the spark they needed.”
