Tennis: Indian Wells Day Eight Preview - 7/1 Daily Acca

Iga Swiatek to beat Madison Keys

It’s the first half of the women’s quarter-finals so let’s kick off with Iga Swiatek, who has at times made things hard on herself by getting dragged into into a decider and will pose the toughest test so far for home-crowd favourte Madison Keys, who has enjoyed quite the resurgence this year.

Swiatek (2/5) feels like a pretty safe bet to get our Acca started.

Cameron Norrie v Jenson Brooksby

The defending champion is the sole Brit left standing in the singles, but he has a great chance of continuing the defence of his title in an even match=up with Jenson Brooksby. The American has been racing up the rankings and had a strong end to last year on the tour, and has had some pretty good results. For Norrie’s part (10/11), he seems to have shaken off his tussle with Covid which (despite his protestations) did seem to be in part responsible for a sluggish start to the year. but even so, he should be a decent mark for today’s Acca.

Gael Momfils v Carlos Alcaraz

Old guard versus Next Gen? Why not! Alcaraz is surely the face of the ATP for the years to come, but never count out Gael Monfils – he pulled off quite the scalp, taking out the World No.1 Daniil Medvedev and relegating him back to the World No. 2 next week, and although Alcaraz is seen as the up-coming favourite, but Monfils (12/5) could well be on something of a renaissance run in the desert.
