Our winning spree came to an abrupt halt yesterday, but…today is a new day – so what do we have for the Day 6 Acca.
Daniil Medvedev v Gael Monfils
We have largely left the newly minted world No.1 Daniil Medvedev alone so as we trundle into the third round. He will face the perennial entertainer Gael Monfils, and more interestingly they have split their head to head 1-1 (both in 2019). After a rough year last year, Monfils actually started the year pretty well with the title in Adelaide, and the quarter-final at the Australian Open.
This ought to be quite straight forward for Medvedev (1/7) but expect some theatricals from Monfils to make it entertaining.
Maria Sakkari v Petra Kvitova
We are not going to lie – it is always a bit heart over head thing when it comes to Petra Kvitova, but the firm crowd favourite has had a bit of a shocker of a year, and the new guard are making their presence felt. Sakkari (4/9) has been way more consistent than the two-time Wimbledon champion, throughout this season, and is our next best pick.
Elise Mertens v Daria Saville
The feisty little Aussie already claimed the scalp of Ons Jabeur, and although Mertens has arguably been a lot steadier, and absolutely battered Marta Kostyuk for the loss of just three games, Saville (11/5) is a tricky prospect and is full of confidence at the moment and we could see a decent upset her for the Aussie qualifier.
