The 2023 Everest - Eye on the Prize

All eyes will be on Randwick in the early hours of Saturday morning as 12 horses go to post for the 2023 Everest - the world’s richest race on turf, with over AUD 20 million up for grabs.

Run over 1200m, just a shade under 6 furlongs, the Everest is fast and furious and sees the best sprinters in Australia battling it out.

With last year’s winner, Giga Kick, not lining up this time, the 2023 Everest looks like a wide-open contest with plenty of horses in with a chance.

Check out our tip for the big race at Randwick below.

6:15am Randwick - Private Eye

Private Eye ran a cracker in last year’s race to finish 2nd, and he looks a solid bet to go one better this time.

He beat five of these rivals when landing the Shorts over 1100m at this track last month from barrier 9, so he knows what it takes to win from a wide berth.

He lost his form in March and April, but he’s a Spring horse and will arrive here with plenty of confidence after his effort last time out.
