Tottenham could be without Heung-min Son for six weeks as South Korea yet to agree departure date

Tottenham faced off with Newcastle this past Sunday in what was expected to be a tough game for Spurs.

However, Tottenham ran out 4-1 winners on the day thanks to goals from Heung-min Son, Richarlison (x2) and Destiny Udogie. The Lilywhites return to action on Friday vs Nottingham Forest and are 8/11 to pick up the win with bet365.

Tottenham could be without Son for six weeks

Ahead of facing Nottingham Forest, Tottenham have been dealt a blow on the Heung-min Son front.

The Tottenham captain could be out of action for six weeks in the new year due to South Korea’s participation in the Asian Cup.

Spurs and the South Korean FA are in talks over a release date for the forward ahead of the tournament in Qatar, which runs from January 12 to February 10.

The current expectation is that Son will play for Tottenham against Bournemouth on New Year’s Eve before travelling to Abu Dhabi, as South Korea are holding a training camp there and are playing a friendly on January 6 before the Asian Cup starts.

This means Son could be absent from Tottenham for around six weeks, depending on how far South Korea make it in the tournament.

Son will definitely miss Tottenham’s FA Cup 3rd round tie with Burnley on January 5 and their trip to Manchester United in the Premier League the following week. He would also miss a possible FA Cup 4th round tie, should Spurs beat Burnley.

The forward could be absent for league games against Brentford, Everton and Brighton as well.
