Tottenham injury update

Ahead of facing off with Nottingham Forest, Tottenham have a number of injury concerns to deal with.

James Maddison admitted he is growing frustrated in his recovery from an ankle injury.

The Spurs star has been out since the defeat to Chelsea in November. It was initially believed he would be out until early 2024. However, Maddison has now hinted at a three-month absence, which would mean a February return:

“It’s healing well, it’s a bit of a slow burner which is obviously frustrating because like you said, I started the season so well,” he told Amazon Prime Video. “But it’s healing, slowly but surely.”

Said defeat to Chelsea also saw Micky van de Ven limp off as he picked up a serious hamstring injury. Ange Postecoglou described that as ‘fairly significant’ and the centre-back is not expected to return before the end of the year.

Rodrigo Bentancur suffered a cruel injury blow as he was forced off on his first start for the club in nine months vs Aston Villa. Scans revealed ankle ligament damage, meaning Bentancur once again faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines. He is expected to miss ten weeks of action, with a return in mid-February touted.
