Tottenham star speaks out on lack of game time during unbeaten run

Tottenham are currently enjoying one of their best-ever starts to a Premier League campaign.

The Lilywhites sit top of the Premier League ahead of club football returning this week and are one of just two sides still unbeaten in the English top-flight this term. Tottenham can be backed at 11/1 with bet365 to win the Premier League.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg addresses lack of game time

The arrival of Ange Postecoglu has been massive for Tottenham. Despite losing star man Harry Kane, Spurs are playing some of the most entertaining football in the Premier League and most importantly, winning games.

The likes of Heung-min Son, James Maddison and Yves Bissouma have all been given a new lease of life under the Australian.

One man who has had no such fortune, however, is Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg. The 28-year-old has been a mainstay in Tottenham’s midfield for several years but the arrival of Postecoglu has seen the Dane notch just 122 minutes of Premier League action across seven games.

Pape Matar Sarr and Yves Bissouma have occupied the two central midfield positions since the Australian took charge and the return of Rodrigo Bentancur from a long-term injury will increase competition for places too.

On his lack of minutes for Tottenham this season, Hojbjerg said during the international break: “We are in a very good position in the league, even though it is only a short time into the season, and we are making really good progress.

“So, it’s all about keeping up. I haven’t played as much as I’ve been used to, but it’s also something you take with you and have to accept it and learn from.”
