Wet Leg and Little Simz Are Joint Favourites for the 2022 Mercury Prize

The 2022 Mercury Awards Show will take place on Thursday 8th September at the Apollo in Hammersmith. Twelve acts have made the shortlist for £25,000 prize.

Wet Leg have been vying for favouritism with their self-titled debut album for the past few weeks. The British indie rock duo of Rhian Teasdale and Hester Chambers are best priced 9/2 with Coral to land the big prize after their debut single ‘Chaise Longue’ quickly racked up three million streams last year.

Self Esteem can be backed at 9/2 with BetVictor for example but bet365 go just 3/1. Gwenno is the fourth favorite - 8/1 at bet365, but the 41-year-old Welsh musician can be backed at 12/1 elsewhere.

BBC Music, the Prize’s broadcast partner, will cover the event live on television, radio, the internet, and social media.

  • The Mercury Prize 2022 featuring Free Now - Album of the Year will be televised on BBC Four on September 8, 2022, from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m.
  • On Thursday, September 8, from 7 p.m. to 12 a.m., BBC Radio 6 Music will also broadcast coverage of the awards presentation for its listeners.

What Do Hills Know About Eurovision’s Host City?

Meanwhile, in another specials betting market – the host city for the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest – William Hill is convinced Glasgow will prevail. The Scottish city was available at even-money with the firm two weeks ago. But frenetic activity during the past 72 hours has seen it cut into 2/5, then 2/7 and now just 1/5.

Birmingham – 7/4 favorites with the firm in mid-August – is now out to 7/1. That is one point shorter than Manchester. It is 14/1 bar; incorporating Liverpool, Leeds, Newcastle and Sheffield.
