Why Bernardo Silva & Ruben Dias have left Portugal camp

Luckily for the Manchester City faithul, neither of the aforementioned duo appear to have departed Portugal due to injury.

Both Silva and Dias completed 90 minutes in the 5-2 drubbing of Sweden and were set to be in the squad for the clash with Slovenia next week.

However, Portugal boss Roberto Martinez told a press conference that Silva and Dias, along with a number of other players, have been allowed to leave to ensure they are taken care of:

“It’s important to work on different concepts, especially because Slovenia has a very similar structure [to Sweden], also with two strikers, so the players who leave are all taken care of, they are: Bernardo Silva, Ruben Dias, Joao Palhinha, Nelson Semedo , Toti Gomes, Rafael Leão, Bruno Fernandes and Goncalo Ramos,” the Belgian said.

“There are another eight players who will arrive at a high level for the second game, with hunger and a lot of energy, I hope.”
