The number 23 seed became the first German to reach the final since Steffi Graff in 1999 when coming through a dramatic semi-final against fourth seed Agnieszka Radwanska on Thursday. The 23-year-old fought back from 0-3 in the third set to win the marathon 6-4, 2-6, 9-7 and consolidate her position as title favourite.
Lisicki’s best form is on grass courts, twice a Wimbledon quarter-finalist and reaching the semi-finals once before in 2011, but not many expected her reach the last eight of this year’s competition. The German defeated defending champion Serena Williams in three sets in the fourth round to put her on course for her first Grand Slam title.

Bartoli, the 15th seed, won a one-sided semi-final against Kirsten Flipkens, 6-1, 6-2 and will be appearing in her second Wimbledon final six years after losing out to Venus Williams.
The 28-year-old Frenchwoman was always in command against her Belgian opponent, breaking serve at the first attempt before completing a comprehensive victory in little more than an hour.
Lisicki and Bartoli have met four times in their careers with the German leading 3-1. Her only defeat came at Wimbledon in 2008 at 18-years-old and her most recent victory against Bartoli was in the quarter finals of Wimbledon in 2011.
