Wolves at 15/2 with William Hill to be Premier League’s top Midlands club

Leicester City have been one of English football’s most progressive and ambitious clubs in recent times.

First, they won the Premier League in 2016 and then lifted the FA Cup last season.

Under Brendan Rodgers, the Foxes have also consistently challenged at the top end of the table and earned many admirers. But could Steven Gerrard’s Aston Villa or Wolves usurp them this season as the Midlands’ top club?

The three sides are currently separated by just three points and it is impossible to say who will finish the campaign highest up the table. Gerrard has performed an outstanding job at Villa Park since he was appointed as Dean Smith’s successor six weeks ago.

There are those who cynically suggest that the former Liverpool captain is using the Villa job as a stepping stone towards securing the top job at Anfield as Jurgen Klopp’s successor.

But that would be to overlook the huge potential of Villa and what Gerrard might be capable of achieving with the former European Cup winners.

Bruno Lage has similarly impressed at Wolves this season and right now all three Midlands club appear capable of potentially qualifying for Europe.

Although Leicester are bookies’ the favourites to finish as the Premier League’s top Midlands club, Wolves are a tempting bet at 15/2 with William Hill.

There is an impressive air of authority about Lage and, after a shaky start to the season, the men from Molineux are emerging as a respected force once again.
