The Michael Stoute trained Workforce is now a best price 12/1 with Skybet, Paddy Power and Ladbrokes for the StanJames.com 2000 Guineas after sustained support.
The impressive winner of his only run as a two year old in Goodwood’s Electrolux Professional EBF Maiden Stakes last September, beating subsequent Tattersalls Timeform Million winner Oasis Dancer by an easy six length.
The King’s Best colt has long been held in high regard and Teddy Grimthorpe, racing manager to owner Khallid Abdullah said: " Plans are still open as regards Workforce’s early-season targets but he looks an exciting prospect."
" We are very happy with the way he has wintered and Sir Michael is very pleased with him from that point of view."
His sire won the 2000 Guineas in 2000, beating Giant’s Causeway, and has so far produced two top class milers in Proclamation and Creachadoir.
King’s Best is also responsible for offspring that have succeeded at a mile and a half and further, add to this the fact that Workforce’s dam Soviet Moon is a sister to the 2003 St Leger winner Bryan Boru, and the colt has every chance of staying the Derby Trip.
Currently available at 25/1 for the Epsom showpiece, that price is likely to shorten dramatically if the first colt’s classic of the season produces a decent performance from this exciting prospect.
