- Dimitri van den Bergh to beat Jonny Clayton - 6/4 with bet365
We’re moving into round two on Tuesday night at the World Matchplay, and it might not be “coming home” this summer, but the home of darts will surely continue to deliver.
The tournament has gone to form so far without too many shock results to grab headlines, so there are some juicy second round ties for us to get our teeth stuck into.
Let’s take a look at three of the best tips for Tuesday night’s action, plus the best darts betting offers from the top betting sites.
World Matchplay Darts Betting Tips
Nathan Aspinall to beat James Wade
Averaging up at 96 in his opening round win over Danny Noppert, James Wade impressed via a 10-5 victory and threw his hat into the ring to be a competitor at this season’s Matchplay.
He is the definition of a Matchplay sort of player, savvy in striking at the right moments in games and playing the board rather than his opponent or occasion.
But Nathan Aspinall is one of the best and most consistent players on the tour.
The “Asp” averaged 92 in his win over Luke Woodhouse and showed good bottle in coming through 10-8 in a game where not everything went his own way.
Aspinall has been priced as the underdog here, so he’s got our backing.
Luke Humphries -4.5 vs Stephen Bunting
There doesn’t look like much is going to stop Luke Humphries this week in Blackpool.
The world champion bullied Ricardo Pietreczko 10-4 whilst averaging a monster 109, with his fallen opponent averaging 101 in defeat…
He’s got the all-round game to beat anyone inside the Winter Gardens, and Stephen Bunting isn’t playing consistently enough to challenge him in a race to 11.
Bunting had to go into extra-time to beat Ryan Joyce and may have already used up his luck.
Dimitri van den Bergh to beat Jonny Clayton
Nine-dart Dimi flexed his muscles in the opening round against Martin Schindler, recording a perfect leg en route to an impressive 10-6 victory.
Van den Bergh averaged 99 and looks a good bet to add to his three semi-final appearances (at a minimum) in his four years at the Matchplay.
Jonny Clayton has been inconsistent on the tour over the past few years, but finds himself as a 4/6 favourite against the Belgian.
Clayton averaged 101 in knocking out Raymond van Barneveld, but we are backing van den Bergh in the outright market as he continues his healthy form on the Winter Gardens oche.
